In this series we have ventured to all corners of the Bible to discover what God says about how he calls us to purification in a way like a refining fire. This week, through the books of Zechariah and Exodus, we celebrate Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday: what it meant then and now.
May we experience a purifying and indwelling of the consuming fire of God.
Purifying that changes us — Indwelling that empowers us.

Jesus came to Jerusalem victorious.
Jesus came as a different kind of King… & its a beautiful picture of grace!
Jesus is a King of peace.
Jesus came as a different kind of King… & they didn’t really want that.
Jesus was exactly what they needed, but they couldn’t see it.

This week, through the books of Zechariah, Proverbs, and Exodus, we find that chaos is everywhere, but in this chaos we have hope and stability in God.
May we experience a purifying and indwelling of the consuming fire of God.

Chaos is everywhere.
In the midst of chaos, there is a choice to be made: trust in God or give way to fear.

This week we spent most of our time in Deuteronomy 6 and 30 as Pastor Jeni preached on obedience v. disobedience and grace and love of God.

Wholehearted love — obedience to God’s Laws — witness
God is straightforward — obedience leads to life. Disobedience leads to death.
God’s clarity is an act of love.
We have a path to choose also.
God’s grace makes a way for us to be renewed again and again.

As we approach the cross and resurrection of our Lord we must remember who our God is and avoid distractions so that can hear His voice and experience His presence. God doesn’t give up on us. Desire & distractions are everywhere.
The Israelites forgot.
What makes us forget God?
Consistent temptation for the people of God throughout history to forget who God has called us to be and to get distracted by all that we want.
Even when God brings judgement & justice he doesn’t give up on us.
God is never done calling, never done seeking restoration and renewal for all.
God can change hearts & He still is.

The Psalmist is longing for “home”.
In the presence of God is a joy like no other.
In the journey, with all its ups and downs, is abundant joy.
Once you have constant access to something it can become undervalued no matter how valuable it actually is.
Do we ache for God like that?

We kickstarted a FIRE new series this week titled, “A Consuming Fire”. This is our series for the season of Lent that goes along with the devotional book of the same name. For the first week, Pastor Jeni preached on the purifying and indwelling of the consuming fire of God. She asked us to search our heart and earnestly seek God together in this 40 days leading up to Easter. Join us as we begin the procession to the cross.

The God of the universe invites us to come into God’s rest.
Come into God’s presence, woefully underdressed and ill prepared though you may be. The invitation stands.

We take a look at the power dynamic between King Saul and David after David is anointed by Samuel. Through this lens, we discover the importance of having trustworthy individuals in our life that can call us out when we are not walking the path of God’s best for our lives.

We also honored the past in seeing how God used our church in furthering His Kingdom then as well through a few missional initiatives.
